Saturday Working Bee 24/04
A working bee was held on Saturday 24 April to complete maintenance to the Field
Course and Indoor targets. A huge amount was achieved and archers worked strongly
together to get the jobs done.
Coaches downed the tools for a while to conduct our regular ‘Come and Try’ session
and then picked up the tools again afterwards – great effort.
Thanks to all those who attended, including those from Committee, and the following
non-committee: Mick and Riley Austin, Peter Hill, Dave Reid, Alex Nesic. Huge
efforts – please accept the Clubs thanks!
Autumn Indoor League Rounds 7 & 8
Archers are enjoying the Autumn Indoor League and some very pleasing results were
recorded.
On Friday 23 April both Mick Austin and Gerard Ivander recorded PB’s – well done to both!
Alex Nesic showed glimpses of his highly impressive recent form. Whilst Lex was
disappointed with his scores on the night, he finished very strongly. We all realised
why he is amongst the best compound archers around – some will say ‘The Best’ but
Lex modestly won’t have that.
The Indoor League provides a relaxed and supportive atmosphere to test and improve
your archery skills.
Archers are already putting their minds to the Winter Indoor League – details to
follow – why not join us? Ask next time you are at the club, and we’ll happily provide
details.
Summer Indoor League – Rnd 5 & 6 Results
Friday night saw the running of rounds 5 & 6 of Archers of Warrnambool Summer Indoor League.
Numbers were low but competition was high, with visiting archer Mark Southall leading the way with his trusty longbow. This traditional archer shot a personal best on both rounds of competition, taking the points in his division on each of the 30 arrow events.
Club Captain Dave Reid was also in red hot form in the A grade division with scores of 272 and 279. Reid, shooting his backup bow, managed to win both his rounds just ahead of Alex Nesic, despite a complete miss in each event.
Competition was fierce in the B grade division with Chris Densley, Mick Austin and Peter Hill battling for points. Densley took top honours in round 5 with Mick Austin leading the way in round 6 and again shooting a personal best on the night. Austin is quickly gaining a reputation as one of the top recurve archers in the region, evidenced by regularly shooting mid 200s on the indoor range.
The next round of AoW indoor league will be Friday 22/1/21 at 7pm sharp.
