Club Shoot 29-06-2019

What a shocker of a day! Gale force winds and constant rain forced everybody inside to shoot on the indoor range today. Over 25 shooters were there to celebrate International Mud Day, with Jess Reid shooting a perfect 60 on her return from semi-retirement.

Beth Medwin had a mixed day on her first outing with her new recurve but still managed to out score her dad…. again. 😎 Her brother Elijah was the big improver on the day tho. After getting some one on one coaching his groups got continually smaller throughout the day.
Both Chelsea and  Elliott were their usual accurate selves and Gerry Mahony shot a PB on the last round for the day. In the last week we have seen PBs from Chelsea, Eli, Beth, Michael, Elliott and Dave!

Keep practicing guys, it’s really starting to pay off as we all get ready for the new indoor league next month.

Don’t forget our indoor twilight shoot for all financial members next Tuesday night, the range opens at 5pm, hope to see you there.

Club Shoot 22-06-2019

What a great day at the club today! We had so many at our come and try session that we were running short on bows.
New member Alex, who recently graduated to 20m, brought along a compatriot Tom who after only 3 ends at 10m was sent straight on to the 20m targets. He took to archery like a duck to water!

Judy and Charlotte were also very consistent, both shooting for the first time and both regularly finding the centre of the target. A miracle really, given that super-coach Mike Clark was away and the coaching was left to die hard compound shooter Dave Reid. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜ƒπŸ€£

Bethany continued her good form, with her dad Michael the big improver, finally getting comfortable shooting with a sight. He put together some of the best groups of the day, so look out Beth, he’s not far behind you now.

Elliott, Gerry and Kane were their usual consistent selves, braving the elements on the 90m range before the persistent rain drove them inside where it appeared that Dave was finally over his target panic, shooting a 291 on the 20cm vertical indoor target face.

Don’t forget our indoor twilight shoot for all financial members next Tuesday night, the range opens at 5pm, hope to see you there.

Indoor 18-06-2019

A really good turn out tonight, despite the cold weather.

Gerry was in fine form again with his Samick Sage, as was Bethany, who tried to follow up her Personal Best from last week but just fell short. She still shot well enough to beat the pants off her dad… again. C’mon Michael, you need to put in more practice mate. HAHA

Dave seems to have finally overcome his Target Panic posting a 287 on the indoor vertical traffic lights. It’s his best indoor score since returning to archery after a 15 year lay off. Hopefully a 300 is just around the corner, although he is having some issues with his arrow rest. It looks like he’ll be off to see Marcus at Urban Archery soon to get a new rest. He’s got his eye (pun intended) on the Nock-On Elevate drop-away rest, all he has to do is get Jess to agree. Good luck with that Dave!

Don’t forget our come and try session this Saturday from 12pm, all new archers are welcome and it’s free! Then our club shoot from 1.30pm, Hope to see you there!!

Dave, working on getting that arrow rest set up.

Club Shoot 01-06-2019

What a great day for archery today! When we arrived at the range, there wasn’t a breath of wind and the sun was shining.
Unfortunately, not very many members were at the club to enjoy the fabulous conditions, however those that did turn up made the most of the glorious weather.

Club regulars, Jess and Dave Reid shot at 50M at one of the new outdoor targets, while new comers to the club, Vikki and her son Taj made the most of the calm day at shot at 20M.

Super Coach Mike Clark was kept busy most of the day on the indoor range, schooling the

beginners at the Come & Try Session in the fine art of recurve technique.

We had around 10 novices again this week, all taking advantage of the 3 free sessions we provide to introduce them to our great sport. One new comer, Sam, did particularly well, qualifying to advance from 10M to 20M after only a few ends. Congratulations Sam, I hope to see you back next week!

Dave Reid even crossed over from the dark side, finding one of the left hand club bows and shooting a few ends with the recurve. As usual when it comes to barebow recurve, Dave couldn’t hit water even if he was standing in a lake. At least he didn’t break any arrows this time. Good on ya Dave, but mate, better for every one if you stick with your Mathews MR8 compound bow.

Don’t Forget:
Our Come & Try Session will be running again next Saturday between 11am and 12:30pm. If you’ve ever wanted to try archery, this is a great introduction to the sport. All equipment is supplied and there is absolutely no cost to come along to your first 3 sessions. After that, you are under no obligation to continue, however we’d love to have you as a regular member. Contact Mike Clark, email – mike.clark@aow.asn.au, Mobile – 0422 868 406 or Dave Reid, email david.reid@aow.asn.au, mobile – 0477 883 694 if you have any questions, or you can just fill out the form on our contacts page.

Club Shoot 30-03-2019

A great turn out at the club today despite the disgraceful weather. A few hardy members tried to brace the conditions on the 90 metre range, however the wind, rain and hail won in the end with everybody deciding to shoot indoors instead.

Today was supposed to be the start of a new structured shoot calendar, however this has been postponed until next month.
