Twilight Club Shoot 27-11-2018

We had 5 shooters last night, Dave & Jess, Liam, Danielle and Conner. It was a good night for shooting, conditions were great. Danielle and Liam continue to improve while Jess & Dave carried on their poor form from the GHA Field shoot and shot rubbish for most of the night. 🙂Thanks to all who took the time to come out last night.

Our next Club Shoot is Saturday December 1st at 1pm, with the Come &Try Session on the same day, starting at 12 o’clock. It looks like it’s going to be a ripper day so grab your bow, stick on your shorts, and come on out!

Hamilton Social Shoot 25-11-2018

It was a great day at the Greater Hamilton Archer’s social shoot today, with shooters from Warrnambool, Hamilton, Ballarat, Mt Gambier, Geelong and many more places. The course was well laid out and the event was very well run. Kudos to Brendan and his crew for running such a slick operation.

Jess and David Reid were there representing Archers of Warrnambool and Urban Archery, however neither of them put up a good showing with both of them shooting rubbish most of the day. Despite their poor shooting, both of them had an absolute ball. It was great to see Dave back on a field course as its been almost 15 years since he has shot field, and this was the first time for Jess and she just loved it.

We plan to build a field course once we get access to our ground again, and if you haven’t tried field archery then you should really give it a go. It’s a brilliant way to spend the afternoon.

Don’t forget, we have our Come & Try this Saturday afternoon from 12pm, if you want to give archery a go, this is the best way to do it. It’s free so you have nothing to lose, and who knows, you might just be the next “Hawkeye” or “Arrow”

Club Shoot 24-11-2018

What a great day and a great turnout for the club today!
A couple of new shooters and a couple of previous shooters returning to the club, welcome back Gerry and crew.

Well folks, today was The Jess Reid Show, with Jessica qualifying to move up to 30M. Needing 240 , Jess smashed that by shooting a 260! That Quest Radical is really working well for her and she is handling it like a seasoned campaigner. Its hard to believe that she’s only been shooting a few months and has had that bow for only 6 weeks.

Her husband Dave won the club shoot for the second week in a row, narrowly defeating Kane Bartlett by only 3 points with Jess Reid a further 3 points back. Dave’s New Mathews MR8 is tuned to perfection and is super smooth to shoot. After a layoff of 13 years, Dave is slowly finding his feet, and the more he shoots and the stronger he gets will soon equate to big scores on the range.

During the comp, Jess had a brain fade and on one end only shot a 33, with a complete miss as well. Had that miss been just a seven, Jess would have won the comp! That would have been a great achievement.

Club President and Resident Super Coach Mike Clark was kept busy all day, with seven people to coach all at the same time. He did a great job as you could see the improvement of their shooting as the day went on.

All in all, today was an absolute ripper day for the club.

Don’t forget the next club shoot is Tuesday night from 5pm til 7pm. Why not come along and join the fun?

Club Shoot 17-11-2018

A great turn out today, despite the fact that our fearless leader and super coach, Mike Clark was away on family business, with up to 11 shooters on the line at various stages of the day.

The sun was shining but conditions were challenging, with gusty headwinds all day. Dave Reid won the club shoot, narrowly defeating Kane Bartlet, both guys were shooting compound which gave them a big advantage over those shooting recurve. Kane was driving nails with his trusty Camo PSE and Dave was doing the same with his awesome Mathews McPherson Series MR8 Monster.

It was good to see Liam and Ethan back shooting today, along with Danielle, Jamie and Co.  And a  very interesting day it was, with Danielle unable to find her favorite Recurve, so she had to struggle along with an unfamiliar bow. Jess was also restricted today, having blown up her compound last week, she was forced to use her ambidextrous recurve, and boy oh boy what a beautiful bow it is!

All in all it was a great day at the club with fun had by all. And remember, every Tuesday night is our twilight club shoot from 5pm till around 7 or 8pm.
Come along and do some shooting, It’ll be great to see you there!
