Archery Fun Day

Hello Everyone.

On the 18th of November our club decided to host a day of Archery fun and games. Games like Pin the tail on the donkey, Noughts and Crosses and a few other games.

The day started of overcast and the fear of rain was certainly about, but that didn’t stop the first event, The Clout run by Mike Clarke.

Following on from the Clout we had a Event we called a speed shoot. The objective was, once you stepped into the designated area(The Shooting Box), you had 30 seconds to shoot 3 arrows at 3 separate targets, one set at 10m, one set at 8m and a 3D Fox set at 5m. The 8 and 10 meter targets were scoring targets and you had to hit both before you could shoot the Fox and double your score.

After the Speed Shoot there was a spot of lunch, A Sausage Sizzle cooked by our wonderful Club Secretary Denise, while everyone was having food the door raffle was drawn.

After Lunch we moved into the Indoor Range for the set of games, first we would start with Pop the Balloons, however hiding behind one of the balloons on each target was a prize to get. Can you guess witch balloons they were?

After that we had Shoot your Age, the objective is, on a 80cm target you have 3 arrows and 4 rounds, you have to shoot you age exactly and yes your scores carry over. For Example, if you were 23 you could do that by hitting 2 10’s and a 3 in round one, but what if you only got a 5 and 1, well your score would be 6 and you would have to make up the rest of it on the next round. If you go aver your age you callout “OVER” and then you would the rest of the End and Rounds to hit the target to subtract to get your age. so lets say you are again shooting for 23, in the first round you got 6, the second round you then scored a 10, that would take you to 16, then for your 3rd arrow that round you hit a 9. Making your total 25, you callout “OVER” and on the next round you have to hit a 2 to subtract to 23. you keep doing this till you get your age.

Once people finished shooting their ages we moved onto Pin the Tail on the Donkey,  3 Arrows and 4 Rounds to get hit the right spot, people got close, but no one hit the bulls eye.

Then we moved onto the final game for the day Noughts and Crosses, this was a Elimination style game, 2 people per target take turns to shoot and they have to make a line with their arrows.

Eventually it all came down to 2.

In the end it was a draw and it came down to Rock, Paper, Scissors as the decider.
